Leighton Rockafellow, Jr.: A Tucson Native Ready To Serve

I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. I attended Salpointe Catholic High School and Arizona State University where I received a BS in Marketing, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I then took a job with Ford Motor Company in Rochester, New York. After a few years in the beautiful, but cold and grey Northeast, I longed for the Sonoran desert and returned to Tucson to attend the James E Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona. While in law school I was vice president of the Latine Law Students Association. I graduated law school in 2011 and have been a practicing attorney ever since.

I now work as a personal injury attorney, protecting the rights of Tucsonans injured by the negligence of others. I sat on the board for the Young Lawyers Division of the Pima County Bar Association from 2012-2016.

Throughout my legal career I have met hundreds of Tucsonans from nearly every cultural, socioeconomic, and political background this city has to offer. From snowbirds living here part-time, to tribal members; from the unhoused, to the wealthy, and everyone in-between, I have seen, through the eyes of our community, the issues that Tucson must address. Too many of us are one minor car-crash, or one missed work shift away from losing our jobs, our homes, and our wellbeing.

I envision a Tucson where our children want to stay, to raise families of their own. To reach that vision we need more high-quality jobs, better housing solutions, and safer streets. Our council needs a pragmatic attorney who advocates for his city, who understands the value in viewing a problem from both sides of the equation, and who will make the tough decisions, even if they are not popular.
